The Young Highland Rover is a poem by Scottish poet Robbie Burns (1759-96). This song setting was commissioned several years ago by my friend, Jo-Ann, who was traveling to Scotland to attend an annual Robbie Burns party and wanted something to offer. Burn’s Night parties encourage readings and the singing of songs based on his many wonderful poems as well as eating haggis and other traditional food and drinking many toasts. I’ve recorded it with oboe, cello and piano accompaniment. Slainte!

Reid-
What a great site. Really neat tunes, recording is rich and clear. I particularly liked the songs from Last World Tour- makes me want to see the show. And the Young Highland Rover is stunning! Have you considered a choral arrangement? Seems to shout out for it.
And thanks for turning me on to Gypsophilia. Very much fun. Great talking to you t’other day. We’ll do it again soon. lerv, dirk
